MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the Science Academy STEM Magnet is to provide a rigorous and supportive STEM-based educational environment where students of all socio-economic and diverse backgrounds will be inspired to lead lives filled with learning, innovating, and contributing towards a better tomorrow.

OUR VISION

It is the vision of The Science Academy STEM Magnet to provide an opportunity where students of all socio-economic and diverse backgrounds will be challenged to develop into college and career-prepared citizens who are able to enter the highly competitive adult world, making a difference in tomorrow’s society. With inquiring and analytical minds, they will demonstrate the critical thinking skills and results-based outcomes necessary to tackle any endeavor that they desire. The Science Academy STEM Magnet recognizes and values the importance of this educational mindset and plans to meet the needs of this community of scholars by nurturing students’ intrinsic motivation for learning and a belief in the students’ desire to surpass conventional expectations. At The Science Academy STEM Magnet, it is our vision to offer a high quality education by focusing on local and global issues that instill a sense of purpose and responsibility, which builds character within the whole child emotionally, physically and socially.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

We believe that students learn when they are engaged, excited, and challenged.  Our talented faculty and staff help students develop higher level thinking skills, including the ability to synthesize, differentiate, analyze, hypothesize, and integrate learned information.  With inquiring and analytical minds, students learn to utilize these skills to facilitate discussions, engage in debates, and present research-based proposals, as examples of their own learning.
We seek to create a community that is cohesive, caring, and welcoming.  We invite parents and families to become part of the decision-making process and activity planning at the school. We keep parents informed about meetings, volunteer opportunities, and other activities through newsletters, internet websites, phone calls, text messages, and school-site parent coordinators.  We strive to provide parents with the information, materials, and training needed to help students reach their maximum potential.
