Join us for a STEMtalk with Jann Vandetti, PhD, of the Natural History Museum (@nhmla). In her STEMtalk, 𝗕𝗶𝗼𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝘁 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝘁: 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗻𝗮𝗶𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗟𝗼𝘀 𝗔𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗹𝗲𝘀, Dr. Vandetti will discuss how the jigsaw puzzle of private land (e.g. backyards) that characterizes LA County’s urban sprawl has made the study of terrestrial malacofauna so challenging. But 𝗦𝗟𝗜𝗠𝗘 (Snail and slugs Living In Metropolitan Environments), NHMLA’s community science project, is helping to change that.
