STEMtalk: Carlos Gutierrez

Join Dr. Carlos Gutierrez and his STEMtalk titled “Science Needs Art and Creativity. Mostly it Needs You”, where he will talk about the most valuable commodity in science research – the creativity, inventiveness and the intellectual capital of its practitioners.
Dr. Gutiérrez is a President’s Distinguished Professor of Chemistry, Emeritus, at California State University Los Angeles and has served on several advisory councils and boards, including the National Advisory Council to the National Institute of General Medical Sciences, NIH; the Board of Visitors for the Chemistry Division of the National Science Foundation; the National Research Council on the Advisory Committee to the Office of Scientific and Engineering Personnel, and the Board on Higher Education and Workforce. He is a lifetime National Associate of the National Academies of Science, as well as the founding chair of the American Chemical Society (ACS) Committee on Minority Affairs. The ACS Scholars Program was established during Dr. Gutierrez’ tenure as CMA chair, and since 1995, ACS has provided scholarships and mentoring to over 3,000 talented minority undergraduates pursuing degrees in the chemical sciences.
